The Maria Laach book and art shop has been an integral part of the Maria Laach Benedictine monastery for over 100 years. Covering over 400 square meters, it brings together an impressive selection of high-quality books, art objects and gift items. Visitors can browse here in a unique atmosphere and discover literature, art and inspiration for spiritual orientation.

The Maria Laach bookshop offers a large selection of books in various genres. Our selection ranges from fiction and non-fiction to children’s and young adult literature. We are particularly proud of our diverse range of spiritual books, which deal with topics such as religion, finding meaning, shaping one’s life and value orientation. In addition to books, the book and art shop offers a carefully curated range of high-quality art objects from the Maria Laach monastery publishing house [link to page] as well as special works by artists and craftspeople from Germany and all over Europe.
Works from the Maria Laach Monastery’s wood and gourmet manufactory and a variety of stationery and gifts with a heart are available in the book and art shop. You will also find a large selection of art and greeting cards.
The Laacher Forum
Events & readings
The Maria Laach bookshop is not only a place of inspiration, but also a recognized cultural center. As part of the Laacher Forum, we regularly offer readings, author events and book presentations. Well-known authors such as Dietrich Grönemeyer, Verena Kast and Henning Scherf have already been guests. Concert readings, philosophical lectures and special events on topics such as Christian literature and the search for meaning are also part of our program.
These literary and cultural events make the Maria Laach bookshop an important meeting place for people interested in literature and art from all over the region.

Our service at a glance
- We take time for your concerns and provide you with friendly and competent advice.
- From April to December we are there for you (almost) every day – even on Sundays and public holidays.
- We procure every available title – often overnight.
- With a few exceptions, we order everything for inspection.
- You can order from us on site, by telephone, by e-mail, by post or in the online store.
- We issue vouchers and book checks
- Exchanges are almost always possible (except for special orders).
- You can pay in cash, by EC card, credit card or on account.
- We are happy to do research for you and compile literature lists.
- Gifts are attractively wrapped – free of charge, of course.
- We will be happy to make custom-made products or repair jewelry for you – just contact us.
