Maria Laach Ceramics Manufactory
Handmade ceramic art & exclusive design objects
Modern ceramics in the Bauhaus tradition
The production of ceramics has a long tradition in Maria Laach. The ceramics workshop experienced its first heyday back in the early 20th century. After a long break, ceramics are once again being successfully produced here today. At the Maria Laach ceramics factory, unique design objects are created according to the principles of the Bauhaus – from tableware and vases to urns. Production is carried out exclusively by hand, from beating the clay to the delicate painting and glazing.
Bauhaus ceramics after Father Theodor Bogler - A piece of history
Since 2019, the famous Bogler storage jars have once again been produced in Maria Laach, Father Theodor Bogler’s last place of work. The timeless design that gives these vessels their unmistakable look is based on the combination of two simple shapes: a hemisphere and a cylindrical cone. These storage jars are not only a piece of ceramic history, but also stylish design objects that harmoniously combine tradition and modernity.
Unique handmade vases and tableware from Maria Laach
The Maria Laach ceramic manufactory is known for its handmade vases and tableware sets. Each piece is unique and is produced with the utmost precision and care. The vases and tableware reflect the Bauhaus maxim “Beautiful. Functional. Simple.” and are real eye-catchers both in everyday life and on special occasions. The glazes, which are only used in Maria Laach, give the objects an unmistakable character.
Decors from the Maria Laach ceramic manufactory - unique works of art
Myrtle
This decoration impresses with its delicate porcelain painting. The myrtle motif is artfully painted by hand on each piece, making it unique and valuable. Each leaf, branch and blossom is carefully applied to the porcelain with fine brushstrokes. The colors are carefully mixed and applied to create a natural and vibrant effect.
Summer wind
Memories of summer evenings spent with loved ones are brought back to life with this extraordinary decor. The masterfully applied porcelain painting makes the motifs appear almost real.
The painting in Laacher Blau develops a special depth on the natural-colored clay.
Refectory
Simple shapes, simple decor and yet something special. It is not only the hand-applied Laacher Blau color that is reduced to the essentials. This service can also be found in the dining room of the monks of Maria Laach.
Apple scent
The unique porcelain painting of the abbey’s ceramics workshop creates a decoration of incomparable precision, detail and beauty. Apple tree leaves make each piece unique and a work of art. A work of art that is also suitable for everyday use.
